T-Shirt – Heidi and her BMW R50/2 Motorcycle

Heidi and her custom painted and restored “POLIZEI” BMW R50/2

Heidi is a militaria enthusiast and collects all sorts of classic military memorabilia.

Militaria are artifacts or replicas of military, police, etc., collected for their historical significance. Such antiques include firearms, swords, sabres, knives, bayonets, helmets and other equipment such as uniforms, military orders and decorations and insignia.

Produced by BMW between 1955 and 1969, the R50/2 was a shaft-driven opposed twin cylinder boxer, four-stroke classic motorcycle .

They were primarily designed as rugged motorcycles to pull sidecars.

The triangular front Earles fork, named after its designer, Englishman Ernest Earles, precluded any front-end dive during heavy front braking, which is common with telescopic front forks. Though heavy and ponderous in turning, the Earles fork gave the old Beemer a steady and reassuring ride.

German police had these motorcycles painted with its original pine green paint, which is known as “Tannengrün”.
